Reminds me of when I was a community journalist, I finished an article on a contentious local government issue and my sub editor came over and said "Your article doesn't have a conclusion, you need to tell people what this all means and who is to blame."
Trouble was, I'd put all the facts in the article as clearly as I could, and it would have been arrogant and irresponsible to impose my own narrow view of accountability on that scenario. I don't think enough people realise how subjective we are.

Barack Obama's book, "The Audacity of Hope," shows a appealing title. It has an idea of bravery mixed confidently. There is nothing Pollyanna regarding it. I will most likely not support almost everything he says, but he's our president, and for me, he creates confidence. Which can do more for a country than any amount of backroom deals. Hope gives us energy, and energy sustains us through trying times. Boy, we've had them. I'm from West Texas, and I did not vote for Bush. When McCain ran against Obama, I used to be a citizen of Arizona, but I gave audacious hope a chance. The fight for progress and laying the foundations of prosperity is just not over. I have come across the quips of those that don't think Obama is able to do it. But step back a second. Would anyone have most of us fail only to tarnish the star of an incumbent for whom they did not vote? Attempting to keep our priorities straight, let's work together with our president and build our future.

Hi Nic, I read your post about the impossibility of proving the truth of a books content, and I agree. I believe that we as a specie do not know the truth of anything; we say- yes we do, but truth is only that which we know about something in the moment.
Authors should always attempt to state their findings as their opinion or their own truth and not a new world truth.

To gain "truth" is a term one cannot realistically use, we "try" to understand would be a better term. People should look at or read books to help them create a broader perspective on life or about the specific subject they are studying. To create a broader perspective is a form or tool which can help us to strive towards peace, whether we will ever achieve world peace is an open question, and might ultimately depend on the literacy of the world community as a whole, and then that literacy should be of global value and not restricted to the vision of one or more visionaries from a limited group of countries. It should also not be that of all the world leaders, but be an effort from all walks of life, to achieve this would possibly take another couple of milleniums due to the fact that we as human sapiens do not take new ideas easily.

Gladly there are groups around this beautifull blue planet trying to make people more aware of their dependance on all others living here, all we can do is giving such groups all the support they deserve. This blog of yours is one of them, keep up the good work.

Wow...You a gutsy guy! Hats off to you. As a previous employee I know exactly what you talking about. I got pretty close to being fired as my managing editor realised I didnt hero worship him any longer. Caxton doesnt like emplyees to have a mind of their own. The articles are all bias. Womf was a bad idea and a huge waste of money. They spent millions on Womf...yet most of the newspapers dont even have their own websites. Pathetic.
