The comment spammers discovered my blog

The comment spammers discovered my blog and changed the way in which I wanted to use it.

Comment spammers are those good-for-nothing people that promote products such as medicines, everything-enhancement-pills, porn and the like, by trying to force it down your throat. They do this by sending you unsolicited emails or, in this case, they send their advertising to the comments of a specific post on the blog. In short, spammers are what we would call commercial parasites.

And they discovered this blog.

For the past few weeks I have received an increasing number of spam messages on the blog. It takes up a lot of time to delete it every time one is posted on the blog.

I wanted this blog to function in a way that I would not moderate any comments, mainly because I support the philosophy of an informed society best served by non-interference.

The spammers forced me to change this policy and from Friday last week, all comments are held back for moderation before it will be allowed onto the blog. I will however only remove spam, not any bona-fide comments.

In the cleaning up of a spate of comments over the weekend, I unfortunatley also removed three bona fide messages on the blog posts about the Polokwane municipality. Sorry for that, guys, If the commenters want to post again, I would appreciate it.

Allright, let’s see how it works and where this blog goes.

Thanks for being here for the ride.
