Amazing how much one can learn in 3 months

There is a saying that goes something like this: “When a child is 12 years old, he cannot believe how little his parents know. When he is 18, he can’t believe how much they learned in 6 years”.

I am amazed at what I have learned in the past 3 months – all things that I learned in preparing for the launch of PolokwaneTopix.com in August. What also impressed me (again) is how much knowledge are available on the Web and how many people are willing to share their knowledge. (You’ll find some of their links on this blog).

The Web and how people use it is rewriting the way we as human beings act, interact and do business. Not many people realise that the world is being reshaped on the Internet, not only by technology, but by how people react to technology and how they use technology – and how they treat each other.

I like what I find on the Internet and I hope to use the same philosophy in our new project.

Three months ago I did not exactly think I knew little, but now, three months later, I am amazed at how much I have learned.

We plan on starting testing of PolokwaneTopix on Friday (18 July) and be up and running on the first of August. If we can get everything done that we plan, we should have a website that will be a first in South Africa. Just pray that those we are dependent on, will be able to deliver.

Until next Monday.
