Thank heaven for little blogs

I found this little notebook in my bedside table drawer while reorganising over the weekend.
It is about 50 years old and belonged to my grandfather who died when I was five. It contains notes in pencil (hardly readable) when he acted as a master of ceremonies at the welcome of a new minister at his church. It is virtually all I have of him save for one black and white photo.
It reminded me how fortunate we are to have technology and tools such as blogs and videos.
I will become a grandfather in August. If I die before I and my granddaughter get to know each other, it will be because I did not use technology to preserve it for her.
Technology is not only about extending and preserving knowledge. It is about preserving memories.
It is the arm that allows us to reach over years, over generations. All we need to do is extend the arm.
